You must be very careful when choosing an immigration consultant or lawyer. Only certain consultants or lawyers will be recognized by Immigration; this means that if you hire someone who is not authorized, your application may be returned to you.
If you pay someone to represent you, they must be:
- An immigration consultant who is a member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC)
- A lawyer who is a member in good standing with a Canadian, provincial or territorial law society
- A notary who is a member in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Quebec
