Settlement Services

North Bay is just the right size to provide residents and visitors with respect and safety, as well as a workforce that is economically diverse.

North Bay & District Multicultural Centre

With the opening of the North Bay & District Multicultural Centre (NBDMC) in February 2008, there are now many resources and people available to help with the transition of moving to North Bay. Several employees at the Multicultural Centre are newcomers themselves and can share their stories and give you first-hand advice.

With funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship Immigration and International Trade, NBDMC assists and support immigrants and refugees with integration and settlement needs.

NBDMC serves the settlement needs of newcomers to Canada (immigrants and refugees) in the Districts of Parry Sound, Nipissing, Temiskaming and Cochrane.

NBDMC services include:

  • Settlement and Orientation
  • Community Connections & Mentoring
  • Interpretation & Translation (fee)
  • English/French as a Second Language referrals (ESL/FSL)
  • Permanent Resident Applications & Renewals
  • Citizenship Assistance
  • Social events
  • Document Certification
  • Employment Support
  • Anti-Racism Lending Library

NBDMC services, except translation and interpretation, are free.

North Bay & District Multicultural Centre is a LGBTQ2S+ Positive Space that welcomes and supports everyone.
